I want all of you to have an amazing experience with the Health Share that you choose to join. So before you sign up with ANY Health Share, you need to know what their Caps and Limitations are.
Health Shares have caps as low as $25,000 up to No caps or limitations on your eligible needs requests.
Let’s dive in…
Altrua Healthshare
There is a lifetime limit of $2 million per member.
Christian Care Ministry (Medi-Share)
For pre-existing conditions, nothing related to your pre-existing conditions will be shared until after 3 years of membership. At that point, they will share up to $100,000 a year per member and after 5 years of membership, they will share up to $500,000 a year per member.
Maternity is capped at $125,000 per pregnancy.
For motorcycle accident injuries, there is a sharing limit of $100,000 per year. If you are injured while on a motorcycle used to perform mission work outside of the U.S., you are exempt from this $100,000 limit.
Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)
You are capped at $125,000 per illness (this is not per year, its for the lifetime of the illness), unless you pay extra for the “Brother’s Keeper” program.
If you pay extra for brother’s keeper, you have to be on the Gold plan to have unlimited sharing.
If you are on the Silver or Bronze membership, the Brother’s Keeper program gives you an additional $100,000 of cost support. With each annual Brother’s Keeper renewal, participants receive an additional $100,000 of assistance, up to $1 million per illness (so it would take TEN years to have up to $1 million in sharing).
Liberty HealthShare
Up to $1 million shareable per incident (only on the “Liberty Complete” plan). The “Liberty Share” plan will only pay 70% of your medical bills (with a cap of $125,000) and they will not negotiate medical costs down for you (which is available on the other plans).
During the first year of membership, there is a waiting period for pre-existing conditions. During the second and third year, they will share up to $50,000 for pre-existing conditions. After the fourth year, they do not consider it a pre-existing condition anymore.
OneShare Health
After members pay their Individual Sharing Amount (ISA) amount, which can be $5,000 or $10,000 per member, the Health Share has limits on how much they would share. For example, a hospitalization can cost a member $5,000 to $10,000 (depending on which one they choose upon enrollment) plus 30% of the medical bills. For larger medical expenses, this can add up quickly for the members.
For Maternity, OneShare will share up to $5,000 for a natural delivery, up to $8,000 for a c-section, and up to $50,000 if there are complications.
Samaritan
Pre-existing conditions have a waiting period of 1-5 years, depending on the condition.
Maternity needs have a maximum shareable amount of $250,000.
Share Healthcare
Pre-Existing Conditions are not eligible for sharing.
Sedera
No single need may consume more than one third of the total number of shares available in a given month. This results in a need being capped, but it is at an unknown amount since it is dependent on how many people contribute to the Health Share each month.
There is a 1 year waiting period (nothing shareable related to the pre-existing condition), up to $15,000 shareable after the first year, up to $30,000 shareable after the second year, and fully shareable after the third year.
Solidarity
After paying your AUA (or member responsibility amount), the Health Share offers plans that will share 70% of medical bills up to $125,000 or 100% of your medical bills up to $1 million per incident (depending on which plan you choose).
There is a 1 year waiting period for pre-existing conditions, then in the second and third year, they offer up to $25,000 sharing and in the fourth year they no longer consider it a pre-existing condition.
Zion HealthShare
The only caps and limitations are for pre-existing conditions.
During the first year of membership, there is a waiting period (no sharing) for pre-existing conditions. During the second year of membership, Zion HealthShare will share up to $25,000 for needs related to pre-existing conditions. During the third year of membership, they will share up to $50,000 for needs related to pre-existing conditions. During the fourth year of membership and beyond, they will share up to $125,000 per year for needs related to pre-existing conditions.
Important: At Zion HealthShare, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes (types 1 and 2) is not considered pre-existing conditions as long as the member has not been hospitalized for the condition in the past 12 months and is able to control it through medication and/or diet.
