What is Zion HealthShare?
Zion HealthShare is a Health Share that provides an organized way for members to share in each other’s large and unexpected medical needs.
How a Zion HealthShare Membership Works
Zion HealthShare Members pay a monthly contribution amount. This money is set aside for eligible medical needs of the Zion HealthShare community.
When an eligible medical need arises, the member would first pay their Initial Unshareable Amount (IUA) directly to their provider. This is the amount that members will be responsible for paying out-of-pocket per need before your medical bills can be shared with the Zion HealthShare community.
Then the member would submit their itemized bills online to Zion HealthShare. Be sure to include receipts that show that you have already paid your IUA.
Zion HealthShare will quickly work to negotiate the costs down with your medical provider(s) and pay the appropriate amount(s) due.
How Zion HealthShare and Direct Primary Care (DPC) Work Together
You would go to your Direct Primary Care (DPC) Doctor for your primary and preventative needs. You would go through Zion HealthShare for major medical expenses.
Together, they provide an amazing healthcare experience for their members at an amazing price (more on that below).
Why Zion HealthShare Is Perfect for DPC Members
- Zion HealthShare members typically save 30-60% off of traditional Health Insurance.
- Zion HealthShare accepts members of all faiths. They are a community of individuals who strive to live a healthy lifestyle and want to share in the costs of one another’s medical burdens. With a healthier community of members, this helps keep costs down for everyone.
- Zion HealthShare does not have annual or lifetime caps on eligible need requests. This gives people peace of mind if very large medical expenses come up, they are not capped.
- Zion HealthShare is known in the industry and to its members for processing medical needs quickly – often within five to ten business days (once all receipts and bills are submitted)!
- Zion HealthShare will negotiate your medical bills for you – big or small. This means that the bigger medical bills have less of an impact for the entire community.
- Zion HealthShare has great maternity benefits. Members first pay their IUA (the amount they choose to pay before the community shares in medical expenses). Afterward, 100% of your eligible maternity medical expenses will be shared.
- Zion HealthShare allows people with pre-existing conditions to join the health share – rather than denying them. Instead, they offer a waiting period for pre-existing conditions and a phase-in of sharing in these pre-existing conditions.
- Zion HealthShare is a Nationwide Health Share, so you can live anywhere in the United States and become a member.
- Zion HealthShare will share in medical costs when on a vacation or serving a mission outside of the United States.
- Members can work with providers of their choice – without network restrictions.
Discount on Your Zion HealthShare Membership
Because Direct Primary Care members work so closely with their doctor to proactively improve their health and live a healthy lifestyle, they receive special discounted prices at Zion HealthShare.
CASE STUDY – Let’s go over a quick example:
Age: 45 Years old
Membership Type: Member Family (this includes the member, spouse, and any children)
$1,000 IUA: This is the amount you would pay your medical provider before Zion HealthShare shares in any eligible medical bills.
Zion HealthShare Membership:
Zion HealthShare Monthly Contribution Amount: $625.00
Zion HealthShare Membership with a DPC Membership:
DPC Monthly Membership Amount: $200 (this is an example based on our family’s DPC costs where we live)
Zion HealthShare Monthly Contribution Amount with a DPC Membership: $450.00
Conclusion:
It would cost this person $650.00 a month for both memberships: Zion HealthShare and the Direct Primary Care. If this person already had a Zion HealthShare membership, it would only cost them an additional $25 a month to have access to a Direct Primary Care doctor (more or less, depending on which Direct Primary Care you go with).
