Solidarity HealthShare Pricing and Membership Options
Understanding the pricing and membership options of Solidarity HealthShare is crucial to making an informed decision. The cost is contingent on the selected IUA, age group, and the number of individuals included in the membership, plus application fees and monthly contributions.
To remain an active member of Solidarity HealthShare, Sharing Members must submit Membership Dues. Additionally, they need to pay a Monthly Contribution amount that meets or exceeds the minimum requirement set by Solidarity HealthShare. Solidarity will not pay your shared expenses – Beware!
After spending over $30,000 in Voluntary Monthly Share Contributions since 2017, we received no more than $300 in shared expenses (reimbursement). Based on the membership guidelines, I was fully expecting Solidarity to share my colonoscopy screening expenses. After 16 months, they never did. Each time I or my doctor’s office called regarding the delay, we received a different story from the representative. My daughter-in-law gave birth almost 2 years ago, and Solidarity never paid a dime in shared costs for that event. I have moved on now to a trustworthy organization, but the cost of my screening will be out of my pocket. Solidarity is not conducting business as a Christian organization and not paying shared expenses. They will gladly take your monthly contribution, but do not expect to see any sharing in return. I can only imagine the pocket linings of the CEO and company executives.
Horrible company, does not support families, covered NO medical expenses despite pre-notification
Solidarity Healthshare isn’t worth even a 1 star review. They have not covered 2 of my babies births through obscure rules- like you only have a narrow 6 week window in which to submit all the bills for the birth. I was unaware of this, not reminded by them of the obscure timeline, and ultimately they covered nothing. NOTHING. The fact that they were informed and sent all the prior payment information before the birth didn’t matter. We jumped through every pre-notification hoop they required and paid up front for our midwife as they encourage paying in cash to take advantage of any discounts. HUGE MISTAKE.
This is a company preying on young families seeking to support likeminded companies who will steward the dollars wisely. They do not do this, have a severe backlog, and will never give you a straightforward answer to your questions. Avoid and safe yourself the nightmare.
Fine if you don’t need your bills paid
Solidarity only pays bills if you’re an active member at time of payment – NOT when they receive the bill. Since they pay when THEY want to (which can be months, or, judging by others’ review, years later), you may end up with bills sent to collections while Solidarity says their policies won’t let them say when they’ll get around to paying. Meanwhile Solidarity can raise their rates on you and now you’re stuck paying even more a month to them, else they won’t pay your bills – but since they don’t seem to do that anyway, you end up throwing the money down the tube.
Don’t get in, and if you are, get out as soon as possible, or you’ll end up like me: ditching Solidarity because you need the money to pay of the collectors they let you get sent to (but helpfully offered to “try to put a pause with the collection agency once the agency has the bills”).
Great coverage, good people, terrible reimbursement process
We have been members for 6+ years. Love the coverage, love the people, but getting reimbursed for eligible sharing costs is close to impossible. Many of our medical providers do not work with solidarity anymore because their reimbursement turn around time is more than 6 months, if at all. I have to go to the effort of reconciling all of my medical submissions annually, send a spread sheet in with what is outstanding and then hound Solidarity relentlessly to ensure that I receive any reimbursements due. As I write this, I am have more than 3 years worth of valid reimbursements owed to me, totaling thousands of dollars. My current monthly dues amount is $760 for my wife and myself. So not only am I paying $9000+ in fees to Solidarity, along with my $1500 member responsibility before sharing occurs, I rarely am getting reimbursed for my eligible sharing expenses. We first started with Solidarity I recommended them to everyone who was looking for Health Sharing. At least one of my good friends signed up and years later has the same experience. We are both dropping Solidarity in the very near future as soon as I can get Solidarity to make us whole for my eligible sharing expenses.
Great for the first year – abysmal afterwards.
I really loved Solidarity when I first signed on in 2018. They paid quickly, service/chat was quick and helpful, they advocated for me, etc. Then “the computer system is getting redone”. That took over a year. Then bills went from paid in 30 days, to 60…now 120. I have bills from TWO YEARS AGO that have not been processed yet. I had a baby at the hospital. Hospital never sent in the bill…but I didn’t know that. I finally got the itemized bill and sent it in. I was DENIED coverage for over $30,000 because it was sent in past the 90 day mark. Yet they can let bill sit unpaid for over two years. If I had paid the hospital out of pocket it would have only been $3,000, but Solidarity told me not to pay it and let them handle it. And now my credit is affected, creditors calling…and still haven’t heard back about my appeal. Please, don’t join Solidarity. They had good intentions but they just don’t don’t deliver.
Disappointing, frustrating, costly
We initially signed up for Solidarity because we admired their mission and pro-life values. We have been extremely frustrated and disappointed by them. Bills take an incredibly long time, sometimes over a year, to be reimbursed. Dealing with Solidarity and the multiple billing offices has become like a part-time job I never wanted. We’ve had negative experiences with Solidarity “re-pricing” services leading to us being shorted. We’ve been sent to collections multiple times because of their delay in payment. The entire Solidarity experience has been very stressful for our family.
Over a year for bills to be reviewed
It has been over a year and a half and Solidarity still has not reviewed my submitted expense. Reading Solidarity’s posts there are numerous people that also have not had their expenses reviewed in over a year and are still waiting for reimbursement for amounts more than $30,000. Luckily my expense was only $7,000 but the wait time for bills to be “processed” is unacceptable and downright scary for members.
High expectations, very disappointed
I had Solidarity healthshare for a few years around the time my husband and I conceived our second baby. I didn’t need to use it for several months and then when I found out I was pregnant, I did the prenotification, got approved, and began submitting bills (very small amounts because we were using a midwife).
It was challenging to submit the bills because the administrative load seems to be too much for Solidarity. I never received confirmation of things submitted, and I was told over and over that I was “overcharged” for care that was incredibly low priced for my area. In fact they said the total price for prenatal, postnatal, maternity care and delivery should be less than 3,000$.
Whenever I called to inquire on a pending reimbursement I was told something was missing, often information I gave multiple times to multiple people.
I eventually gave up hope of receiving any reimbursement. But given that my care was only around 6k total, my only regret was sending shares to Solidarity in the meantime.
To be fair, they did eventually send a check for a portion of my costs to my midwife who gave it to me, over a year after I submitted for reimbursement. That was a pleasant surprise. Still, I am glad to have switched to Samaritan.
Oh, by the way, cancelling Solidarity is a chore. You are supposed to sent written notice, but they don’t have an organized way to make note of those things, so they never received my notice.
Not perfect, but fairly priced for the coverage
I’ve used another healthshare before, but we chose Solidarity because of their maternity and genetic abnormalities coverage among a couple other obscure things. Then our son was then born with Down Syndrome and a cascade of other catastrophic health problems. Everything they said they’d cover has been taken care of, literally hundreds and hundreds of bills totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It’s true that sometimes they take a long time to process, adjust, and pay bills. We’ve never had an issue, though, as there are laws that protect patients from providers and collection agencies. Using a healthshare requires learning a bit about the industry and knowing your rights as a patient.
Horrible in paying bills
Horrible in paying bills. More than 2 years in some cases.
Runaround
We believed a Faith based health Share would have integrity, but that is not the case.
We’ve had the same issues as the other reviewers. Always more information needed, then
oops, didn’t get it in time. Colonoscopy supposed to be covered, almost a year now, and they
keep saying it is for a 90 day review. We have foolishly continued to pay and to trust.
I am not an angry customer as I have had bills reduced. But I am very disappointed in the deceit.
very disappointed with solidarity medishare
We had solidarity for 1.5 years and paid $550 a month .. We cancelled after 1.5 years as they were months and months behind in paying doctor bills. A medical bill we had 8 months ago still hasn’t been paid and the hospital is now sending us to collection. Every time we call solidarity, they tell us it’s pending. That is the first reason we cancelled — they are SLOW, very slow. We haven’t been reimbursed but $10.50 and spent $8000 out of pocket.
The 2nd thing is, lets say your lab bill is $450. Solidarity says, well, its overpriced. We think it should be $93. That happened with almost every bill we submitted. Hello, medicine is overpriced. I’m a veterinarian and its more than $93 for your dogs blood work. We were very disappointed.
I wish we had never chosen Solidarity Healthshare
We’ve had nothing but trouble with Solidarity Healthshare. Some of my husband’s bills from a year and a half ago are still “processing.” Some of our bills have even gone to collections. Their system of dealing with bills is extremely slow. I’ve had months of stress and phone call after phone call to hospitals, doctor offices, Solidarity and AMPS. I wish we had never signed up with them. It’s a great concept, but so far, I haven’t seen it working well. Oh, and don’t believe the lie of bills being processed in 90 days. When they tell you that length of time, it makes me laugh…I have to do that or cry (which I have done several times.)
Wish I could give less then 1 star
Wish I could give a zero. To date, not a penny paid 1 year out on ER bills. We are now in collections. They request same info, over and over regardless if you submitted it. They claim not to get info, even after you forward the original emails ones. They often can’t find your account. They change the required email depending on who you talk with. The Solidarity customer service I spoke with today, when I pointed out the bad reviews over the last 2 years said, “Oh, those are people are just mad” Well, yes, Solidarity, collection agencies can ruin your credit.
