About Holly
Hello! My name is Holly, and I am so happy you have found my website!
My mission is to help more people like you access affordable healthcare. I have found that one of the best ways to do this is by joining a reputable Health Share.
Before I left the workforce to become a stay-at-home mom, I spent 11 years working for an Investing Education company, which was eventually purchased by a large brokerage firm. While working for the brokerage side of the business, I was in Risk Management made me become very thorough with legal documents.
I have used my experience to comb through each health share’s website, diving deep into their membership plans and guidelines.
With all of the information I have gathered about health shares, I decided to ditch health insurance (more about it here) and join a health share plan. This experience made me realize that there are more people like me searching for alternatives for their insurance policies.
That is why I have created the content that you see here on Health Share 101, providing you with the information you need to make an educated decision for you and your family.
Our Mission
I created Health Share 101 with a simple mission in mind: to help you learn more about health shares and ensure you find the best health share plan for your unique healthcare needs.
If you are brand new to health sharing, I recommend starting here. This is where I explain the basics of what a health share is, how it works, and how it’s different from traditional health insurance.
If you are looking for comparisons between each and every major health share, I recommend you take a look at my Health Share Comparisons page. I have a one-to-one comparison, and if you scroll all the way to the bottom of that page, you’ll see some helpful comparison guides.
I also keep an updated list of the Best Health Share Plans and have a lot of comprehensive and in-depth Health Share Reviews.
If you already have experience with a health share, please write your own review or leave a comment! It helps people more than you know.
I’ve created Health Share 101 to become a loving and helping community for people searching for health insurance alternatives. Let’s build it together!
How I Review Health Shares
All the health share reviews you can read on Health Share 101 have been personally written by me.
“But Holly, there are so many reviews on your website; how is it possible they are all so comprehensive?”
Excellent question. First of all, the experience from my risk management days definitely comes in handy. And secondly, throughout the years reviewing health shares, I’ve developed a bulletproof process that allows me to review each health share plan quickly and thoroughly.
Here’s what I look into when writing my health share reviews:
- Membership Guidelines: I spend the most time reviewing the plan’s guidelines to determine what medical bills are actually shareable with their members and what criteria must be met. This information is crucial in determining which Health Share is best for your situation.
- Provider’s Network: Some health share plans might have restrictions on the doctors or hospitals you can use or offer incentives for using certain networks. I always take a deep dive into each network to determine how flexible a company is regarding accessible healthcare providers.
- Legal and Financial Protections: Since health share plans are not insurance, they do not necessarily offer the same legal protections and guarantees. I always analyze the risk involved in each plan, including the chance of medical bills being denied or the plan facing financial instability.
- Member Reviews and Complaints: I always check reviews and complaints from current and former members. This provides me with more insights into how the plan operates in real scenarios, such as the ease of submitting bills, timeliness of payment, and customer service quality.
These four points are the core of my health share reviews. They allow me to significantly streamline my review process while ensuring I cover all crucial features, leaving no stone unturned.
